Identify a bale

The European Recovered Paper Identification System allows you to identify the supplier of the recovered paper you purchased, received, stored and consumed or inspected.

The European Recovered Paper Identification System starts at suppliers’ sources and depots and ends at the conveyor to the pulper: every member in the recovered paper chain has to keep track of his supplier, one step up and one step down the chain.

At the paper mill

When you receive a bale at the mill, please make sure you follow the following steps:

Check:

  • If the lorry is coming with a Delivery Note from the final supplier.
  • If there is all the information needed in the Delivery Note to meet legal requirements with additionally: the supplier code, supplier name, grade code, number of bales (not in the case of loose material), net weight (if available) and lorry number (trailer).
  • If the code on the bales is the one assigned to this supplier.
  • If the code is marked on every bale.
  • If the quality corresponds to the grade marked on the bale (where applicable).

The bale markings have to be clearly and completely visible in all the movements of the bale in the recovered paper yard (storage, quality controls, feeding of the conveyor) up to the pulper.
