Recovered Paper Identification System

The Confederation of European Paper Industries (Cepi), the European Federation of Waste Management and Environmental Services (FEAD)  and the European Recovered Paper Association (ERPA) have set up the Recovered Paper Identification System to allow paper mills to identify the origin of the recovered paper purchased, received, stored and consumed by the paper mills.

This European Recovered Paper Identification system starts at suppliers’ sources and depots and ends at the conveyor to the pulper: every member in the recovered paper chain has to keep track of his supplier. More information can be found in this document: European Recovered Paper Identification System.

The Recovered Paper Identification System is complementary to any legal requirements and to the delivery document; in addition to the identification on each bale, and in addition to the information needed to meet the legal requirements, the following must be indicated on the delivery document:

  • Supplier code
  • Supplier name
  • Grade code
  • Number of bales (not in the case of loose material)
  • Net weight (if available)
  • Lorry number (trailer)
